Do you feel there's something missing in your life?
Do you wish you knew what will happen when you die?
Do you fear for the kind of world that your children will grow up in?

If you answer "yes" to any of the above, read on…

Planning for the Future

Most people make some provision for the future, even though they don't know how things will work out. They plan their education and careers in the hope of a good life. They buy a weekly Lottery ticket, even though the odds against winning are very high. They take out insurance policies, in case the worst happens. They plan for retirement, because that's what they expect to be able to enjoy one day.

But the Bible predicts what is definitely going to happen. So what plans are you making that involve the certainty of the Kingdom of God?

The Meaning of Life

There was a man in the Bible called King Solomon who thought he knew what life is all about. But he also thought he had better check out some alternatives, just to be certain.

First, he decided to improve his knowledge of the world around him (which we might call 'further education'). Being a powerful king gave him access to all kinds of information and he carefully learned and recorded as much as he could. At the end of the day it was clear to him that being informed does have the edge over being ignorant. But also that, whether we are clever or not, we all end up in the grave anyway.

Then he decided to indulge himself with everything that caught his eye: we would call this "materialism". Again, being a powerful king, money was no barrier. Houses, gardens, lakes, servants - you name it, he did it. And what did he find? All sorts of things. For one thing, that we are never happy with our lot, no matter how much we've got. For another, that "you can't take it with you, when you die".

So he knew he had been on the right track all along. And he summed it up as follows:

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.
14 For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

Ecclesiates 12:13-14

In other words, if our goal in life is merely to "get on", leaving no place for God, it will be an empty life. There is a better, a higher, aim in life that is altogether more satisfying.

Jesus put things into the right perspective, when he said,

31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

Luke 12:31

The Way of Life

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart... More to be desired are they than gold...Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.

Psalm 19:8-11

Are you dead or alive? That might seem a strange question. After all, if you weren't alive, you wouldn't be able to read this. But, unless you understand the meaning of life (in other words, God's reason for giving us life) and then lead the way of life God wants us to lead, He regards us as dead (Ephesians 2:1-8). That's because we are living only for ourselves and ignoring God, His warnings and His promises. That self-centred way of life has frequent meetings with Disappointment and keeps a final appointment with Death. That's no way to live. Surely there's more to life than that?

There is. The way of life Jesus shows us makes us feel truly alive and fulfilling a useful purpose. What's more, it can lead to immortality…

The Hope of Life

"The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart…more to be desired than gold. Moreover, by them is Thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward".

We say "Life is too short" and so it is. But God promises us immortality, a life that will not experience suffering nor frustration. In a world that will be at peace because it will be in harmony with God. A satisfying life in the Kingdom of God on this earth, spent cleansing the world of everything that is evil.

We don't deserve that life, because in God's eyes we are sinners. But He has made it available to us through the perfect life, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Kingdom of God is a certainty, because God always keeps His promises. Our eternal life in that Kingdom is a real hope, not a vague notion. Even if we are dead when Jesus comes, we have hope because he will bring us out of the grave.

DO IT AND DO IT NOW!

Eternity is a reward. But rewards are conditional and the reward of eternal life is dependent on God's mercy. But in order to receive that mercy, we must meet some basic conditions. It all starts by reading the Bible to find out what they are.

So look again the other sections on this web site, and also at your Bible. Don't leave it too long. Jesus may come at any minute. Or an illness or a burst tyre may take you and it will be too late. Or you will just forget about it, as most people do.

Put as much effort into it as you would into things far less important. Or when Jesus does come, you will remember reading this and bitterly regret not doing anything about it.
